Hell Over Germany with Clark Gable AND the 352nd!

Postby jman-- » Thu Apr 02, 2015 7:18 am

Was just watching this today and noticed for the first time the 487th has a brief mention!

Skip to the 42:00 mark for the B17 takeoff...

Then about 44:00 you see P-47s rolling...the first two planes have no squadron markings but have the red border on the "stars N bars" which was only authorized for a few months in mid'43..then the third plane has a big "HO" but no pilot letter...

I did some checking and the nearest plane.. (42-8483) was lost on Dec 30 1943 Capt Hayes Button was POW. So this film is from before then.

Also a few minutes later the crew is talking and one of them warns that the fighters nearby might be our escorts...and another says yup it's the 487th!

Just thought I'd mention it as I had seen this before but actually paid attention this time!
