The 486th Squadron moved to Debden for final preparations for the mission which was scheduled for the next day. The scheduled mission was a Shuttle Mission with B-17's to strike targets near Berlin and eastern Europe. The Eighth Fighter Command selected four of its finest squadrons which consist the 4th FG (led by Col Donald Blakeslee) and the 486th Fighter Squadron. The mission was scrubbed when bad weather settled over the continent, and with nothing to do at Debden, Major Jackson brought his squadron back to Bodney to wait for the next attempt.
